UPDATE
It has been another great week of learning at Copperfield School! Throughout February, we have been celebrating kindness. Each morning during our Morning Announcements, our Grade 5 announcers kick off the day by sharing an inspiring kindness quote with the entire school. We are also excited to announce that our annual Read-A-Thon will take place from March 2 to 13. This two-week event will feature guest readers, literacy games, spirit days, and a variety of reading opportunities and incentives—all designed to inspire a love of reading!
§ Monday, March 2 - Kick off with Admin reading to the school (Copper Gallery – Grade Groups)
§ Wednesday March 4 - Bring Your Favourite Book (Teachers decide on activities)
§ Friday, March 6 - D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read) in AM
§ Monday, March 9 - Bring a flashlight and read in the dark
§ Wednesday, March 11 - D.E.A.R (Drop everything and read) in PM
§ Friday, March 13 - Favourite Character Dress up OR PJ Day
Reminder: Mobile Personal Device Policy
The Calgary Board of Education’s (CBE) Student Personal Mobile Device Policy is implemented in alignment with Alberta Education’s Standards for the Use of Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools. Elementary students are asked to keep cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal electronic devices powered off and stored out of sight during the school day. Devices should remain in backpacks. Should this not be followed and after a reminder, the teacher will collect the device and return it to the student at the end of the school day.
These expectations help us maintain a focused, safe, and distraction-free learning environment for all students.
We appreciate your support in reviewing this policy with your child and ensuring devices are properly stored before entering the school each day.
Thank you for partnering with us to support student learning
Thank you for your support!

REPORT CARDS
Parents and Guardians of students in all grades will have access to view student report cards starting Tuesday, February 24 through their MyCBE account. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning.
The CBE has developed some resources related to assessment and report cards to help families learn more about their child's learning.
§ How is My Child Doing in School?
§ Accessing the Online Report Card If you require support to view the report card please contact the main office, and if you have questions regarding the report card, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
CURRICULUM INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
We recognize that parents play an important role in shaping the way their children view learning. Alberta Education’s My Child’s Learning Resource page provides an overview of the curriculum for Kindergarten to High School. This resource will provide you with an understanding of Alberta’s curriculum and related information for your child. Specific curriculum areas and outcomes that are reflected on the report card can be explored in detail. This will also help you discover what your child is learning, how they are being assessed, and what resources are available to help students be successful from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found is overflowing. Please have your student check for any lost items. Lost and Found will be donated at noon, March 20.
WAIVERS
No child is ever denied access to an education in The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) because of an inability to pay. If you cannot afford the fees, there are several ways to qualify for a central fee waiver.
Waiver applications for the current school year are found online through your MyCBE account and are available from the start of the school year until June 30.
More information can be found on the Fee’s and Waivers page.
