UPDATE

Dear Families, Students, and Staff,

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Winter Break filled with special moments, time with loved ones, and wonderful memories. It has been a pleasure welcoming our students back to school and feeling the energy and excitement return to our halls.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who helped make our Winter Concert such a success. Your time, creativity, and dedication truly made a difference. From decorating the backdrop and painting the trees to supporting students as they practiced their scripts, your efforts brought the concert to life and created a memorable experience for our entire school community.

We are so grateful for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to an exciting and successful term ahead as we continue learning and growing together.

Warm regards,

Colette Pedde                                                 Allyson Heggie

Principal                                                          Assistant Principal

 Copperfield has heart!

CAREER DAY - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are excited to invite parents and guardians to participate in our upcoming Career Day on the morning of Friday, January 23! This special event gives students the chance to explore different jobs, learn about the world of work, and dream about their futures.

We are looking for parent volunteers who are willing to lead a 15-minute session sharing what they do for a living. Presentations should be fun, simple, and age-appropriate, and may include visuals, props, or hands-on activities if you’d like. A slide show template will be provided for you.

Career Day is a wonderful opportunity to inspire students and show them the many paths they can take. We welcome volunteers from all careers and backgrounds.

If you’re interested in volunteering or would like more information, please COMPLETE THIS FORM by Thursday, January 15. Thank you for helping make Career Day a memorable experience for our students!

The CBE has a rich variety of programs to personalize learning for students. A wonderful way to learn more about these programs is to visit the many open houses that take place throughout the year. To see the full calendar of open houses, including information on them, click here

 ATTENDANCE

The Calgary Board of Education recognizes the strong positive correlation between attendance and a student’s success in school. Regular attendance sets students on the path to reaching their full potential. At CBE we use a whole school approach to attendance to strategically allocate our resources and create a positive culture where students feel a sense of belonging.

Tips for improving your child’s school attendance:

§  Listen and show an interest in your child’s day.

§  Encourage your child to do well in school and praise their success.

§  Help your child maintain daily routines such as eating breakfast, turning off electronics two hours before bedtime and going to bed early.

§  If possible, try to schedule dental and medical appointments after school hours or on days off from school.

§  Send your child to school unless sick.

§  Ask for help from the school before the problem gets too big. No problem is too small.

As always, if your child will be absent from school, please email the school at copperfield@cbe.ab.ca or call the attendance line at 403-817-3512 ex 1. Please do not email the teacher directly.
